If you’re in Anstruther look out for a rather unusual building.
The shell house was the eccentric creation of Alex Batchelor. Locally the house is also known as Buckie House since in some parts of Scotland sea shells are called 'Buckies'. The house dates from 1692 but the sea shells were added in the 1840s.
The house is located on the main road through Anstruther, opposite the Dreel halls.
